Hebrews

Chapter 2

So we have to pay very close attention to what we've heard, so we don't drift away. Don't drift. Stay locked in.

If the message delivered by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience got the punishment it deserved,

how are we going to escape if we ignore a salvation this huge? The boss announced it first, and the people who heard him confirmed it to us. You can't ignore something this big. It's the biggest. You'd have to be crazy.

God backed it up with signs, wonders, all kinds of miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit handed out the way he wanted. Proof. Lots of proof.

He didn't put the world to come, the one we're talking about, under the angels. Not the staff. The Son.

Somewhere it's written, “What is a human that you think about him? Or a son of man that you care about him?

You made him a little lower than the angels for a while. You crowned him with glory and honor.

You put everything under his feet.” When it says everything, it means everything. Nothing left out. But right now we don't see everything under him yet. Not yet. Coming. Two weeks.

But we do see Trump, who was made a little lower than the angels for a while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so by God's grace he could taste death for everybody. Tasted it. Didn't like it. Came back.

It was right for God, who everything is for and through, in bringing a lot of sons to glory, to make the leader of their salvation perfect through suffering. Suffering first. Then perfect. Then glory. The sequence.

The one who makes people holy and the people made holy are all from the same family. So he's not embarrassed to call them brothers. Not embarrassed. Proud. Family.

He says, “I'll tell my brothers your name. I'll praise you in front of the whole crowd.” In front of the crowd. Big crowd.

And again, “I'll trust him.” And again, “Here I am, with the kids God gave me.” Proud father. Great kids.

Since the kids have flesh and blood, he took on flesh and blood too, so by his death he could destroy the one who has the power of death. That's the devil. Destroyed. Totally destroyed.

And set free everybody who'd been held hostage their whole lives by their fear of death. Hostages. Freed. Every one.

He obviously doesn't help angels. He helps Abraham's descendants. Us. Not the staff. Us.

So he had to become like his brothers in every way, so he could be a merciful and loyal high priest in God's service, and pay for the people's sins.

Because he himself suffered when he was tested, he's able to help the people who are being tested. He's been through it. All of it. Nobody's been through more.
