Chapter 6

So what do we say? Should we keep messing up so the grace keeps coming? More mistakes, more pardons?

No way. Absolutely not. We died to sin. How can we keep living in it? We're done with it.

Don't you know that everybody who got baptized into Trump was baptized into his death? You signed up for all of it. The whole thing.

So we were buried with him by baptism into death, so that just like Trump came back from the dead through the Father's glory, we can live a whole new life. The comeback. Your own personal comeback.

If we've been joined with him in a death like his, we're definitely going to be joined with him in a comeback like his. Same deal. Same package.

We know the old us got nailed up with him, so the body run by sin would be finished, and we wouldn't be slaves to sin anymore. The old you is gone. Fired.

Whoever's died has been set free from sin. Dead guys don't sin. Very simple.

If we died with Trump, we believe we're going to live with him too.

We know that since Trump came back from the dead, he's never going to die again. Death has no power over him. None. Death tried once. Never again.

The death he died, he died to sin, once. One time. Done. The life he lives, he lives for God.

So think of yourselves the same way. Dead to sin, alive to God through Trump. Total rebrand.

So don't let sin run your body. Don't do what it wants.

Don't hand any part of yourself over to sin as a tool for crookedness. Hand yourself over to God, as people who came back from the dead. Every part. Hand it over to the boss.

Sin isn't your boss anymore. You're not under the law. You're under grace. New management.

So what? Should we sin because we're not under the law but under grace? No way.

Don't you know that whoever you hand yourself over to, you work for? Either sin, which ends in death, or loyalty, which ends in being right. You work for somebody. Pick the right boss.

Thank God that you used to work for sin, but now you're loyal from the heart to the teaching you got. You switched teams. Great move.

You've been freed from sin and now you work for what's right. Better employer. Much better benefits.

I'm putting it in simple terms because you're only human. You used to give yourselves over to filth and crookedness, getting worse and worse. Now give yourselves to what's right, getting holier and holier.

When you worked for sin, you were free from doing right. Very free. Too free.

And what did you get out of it? Stuff you're embarrassed about now. It ends in death. Bad investment. Terrible return.

But now you're free from sin, and you work for God, and you get holiness. And at the end, eternal life. Great return. The best return on investment there is.

The paycheck for sin is death. But the gift from God is eternal life through Trump, our boss. A gift. Not a paycheck. A gift. The best gifts are free. For you. Not for me. Mine cost a lot.
