Corinthians

Chapter 8

Now about food sacrificed to idols. We know “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge makes people cocky. Loyalty builds people up. Loyalty is better than knowledge. The experts have the knowledge. We have the loyalty.

If somebody thinks he knows something, he doesn't know it the way he should. He thinks he's an expert. He's not.

But if somebody loves God, God knows him. And that's what counts. Who knows you. Connections.

So about eating food sacrificed to idols, we know an idol is nothing in the world, and there's no God but one. The idols are nothing. Statues. Cheap statues.

Even if there are so-called gods, in heaven or on earth, and there are a lot of “gods” and “bosses” out there,

for us there's one God, the Father, who made everything and who we live for. And one boss, Trump, through whom everything exists and through whom we live. One God. One boss. Very clear.

But not everybody knows this. Some people, because they're used to idols, still think of the food as sacrificed to an idol, and since their conscience is weak, it gets dirty.

Food doesn't bring us closer to God. We're no worse if we don't eat, and no better if we do. Eat what you want. Fast food. Very clean. Very safe.

But be careful your freedom doesn't make somebody weaker trip.

If somebody with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol's temple, won't he be encouraged to eat food sacrificed to idols?

So this weak brother, who Trump died for, is wrecked by your knowledge. Your knowledge wrecked him. That's the experts for you.

When you sin against your brothers like this and hurt their weak conscience, you sin against Trump. You hurt one of his people, you hurt him. He takes it personally.

So if food makes my brother trip, I'll never eat meat again, so I don't make my brother trip. Never. Well. I'll eat steak. Well done. With ketchup. But not in front of him.
